Doral College has recently signed an articulation agreement with St. Johns River State College (SJR State)—an achievement that expands upon the College’s recent membership in the State Course Numbering System (SCNS).
The agreement facilitates transfer of DC students into either a limited access upper-level program at SJR State, or one of the limited access Florida School of the Arts (FloArts) programs. To be eligible, students must have completed General Education Course requirements with an earned overall GPA of 2.0 or higher, and have declared their intent to transfer to SJR State upon graduation from high school. These students will have access to academic advising prior to transferring, thus enjoying a smoother transition.
DC President Douglas Rodriguez traveled to attend the signing, along with others from the College. “We are very proud of this agreement,” Rodriguez said. “It will expand opportunities for students looking to transfer from Doral College to a quality, in-state college, especially for those interested in the arts.”
The agreement has a unique aspect because Doral College’s own Chief Academic Officer, Bert Whitaker, served as the catalyst. Whitaker who previously served at SJR State as Vice President and Professor, worked with his former colleagues to establish this partnership, the first of its kind for Doral College.
St. Johns River State College is located in North Florida, with campuses in Orange Park, Palatka, and St. Augustine. They offer Associates degrees, Bachelor’s degrees, and certificate programs. Also referenced in the agreement is the Florida School of the Arts, which falls under SJR State administration, and offers a number of Associate in Science programs including acting, musical theatre, stage management, photography, graphic design, and more.
