On April 7th, the College’s Bioethics Debate team traveled to Cleveland, Ohio to compete in its 4th Debate Bowl at the National Undergraduate Bioethics Conference. This year, the conference was hosted by Case Western Reserve University, and the theme was “Regenerative Medicine and Biomedical Engineering: Innovations and the Consequent Controversies”. Doral College’s debate team is comprised of students from Doral Academy Charter High, and faced teams from DePauw University, New Mexico State University, and Loyola University, New Orleans.
The College’s Bioethics Debate program is led by Instructor Ryan Kairalla, with assistance from Chenyu Zhu. Director of Admissions & Student Services, Cristina Guerra Romero, also attended the trip. Students particularly enjoyed the Scientific Keynote address by Dr. Paul Tesar, and their visit to the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame.
This year’s team members are Kamila Arap, Adriana Arcia, Ryan Barrios, Camila Delgado, Gina Fonseca, Chantal Fonticoba, Mateo Haydar, Fabiana Hernandez, Camilo Lozano, and Justin Quintero.
