Doral College celebrates its fourth commencement ceremony this Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the InterContinental at Doral Miami. This year’s class is the College’s largest group yet– fifty students from five affiliated charter schools. Previously, last year’s class was the College’s largest, with 29 students.
Like the classes before it, this group of students has already accomplished impressive things. All 50 plan to continue postsecondary study, with many going on to some of the most prestigious schools in the country, including Yale University, Stanford University, Penn State University, Johns Hopkins University, Barnard College and Cornell University. The Class of 2017 also produced impressive, well-researched Interdisciplinary Capstone projects, including thoughtfully planned scientific experiments, and thorough, well-written research papers. They are first generation college students, National AP Scholars, and Silver Knight Award Nominees.
This year, the College is honored to welcome the Speaker Pro-Tempore of the Florida House of Representatives, Jeanette Nuñez. Nuñez is a respected member of the local community, having served the people of Miami-Dade county as a member of the house since 2010. She holds Bachelors and Masters degrees from Florida International University, and is the first Hispanic woman to hold the position of Speaker Pro-Tempore.
Guests are welcomed to enjoy refreshments, hors d’oeuvres, and desserts beginning at 6:00 PM. The ceremony follows, at 8:00 PM.
