Doral College is Part of the Statewide Common Course Numbering System

Did you know that Doral College is a member of the State Course Numbering System (SCNS)? Shortly after receiving its accreditation last academic year, the College joined SCNS, which also includes all state colleges and universities, and a number of well-known private schools too! So…what does this mean for you as a student?
All courses offered by the College have been approved by SCNS, which means transferring them to other member schools is now much easier! Essentially, SCNS rules state that member schools must accept for transfer courses successfully taken at other member schools, as long as the receiving school offers the same course(s), with only a few exceptions. Equivalent courses at different institutions are identified by a course sharing the same prefix and last three digits of the course number. For example, ENC 1101: English Composition I at Doral College is equivalent to ENC 1101: Writing & Rhetoric I at Florida International University, even though the courses have different names.
For more information on SCNS, please see the Course Numbering Section in our Catalog at https://catalog.doral.edu/associates-in-arts-program/course-numbering-system/. Students can also use the online Statewide Course Numbering System website to obtain course descriptions and specific information about course transfer between participating Florida institutions, at http://scns.fldoe.org.
